Shaping the Future: Kexcelled x Suzhou Xiangcheng District Caohu School — 3D Printing Club Phase I Successfully Concludes

When the classroom is no longer just a symphony of chalk and blackboard, when imagination can be transformed—through lines of code and the heat of a nozzle—into something tangible, the boundaries of education are being redefined.

Recently, the first phase of the 3D Printing Club, jointly launched by Kexcelled and Suzhou Xiangcheng District Caohu School, concluded with great success. More than an eight-week after-school enrichment program, it was a forward-looking educational experiment: deeply integrating industrial-grade 3D printing technology into foundational education, empowering students to evolve from passive receivers of knowledge into active creators of the world around them.

From “Play” to “Create”: A Curriculum Revolution Focused on Creativity

This club program was not merely about teaching technical skills. Centered on the philosophy of “Turning Ideas into Possibilities,” it established a complete learning loop of understanding – designing – printing – iterating.

Over eight sessions, students embarked on a full creative journey from zero to one:

Sessions 1–2:

Students entered the world of 3D printing, exploring its development history and fundamental principles. They learned how to source models from online platforms and gained an introduction to slicing software.

Session 3:

Students deepened their understanding of slicing tools and explored how print parameters influence the final outcome.

Sessions 4–8:

The course moved into hands-on creative practice. Students independently designed models, configured slicing settings, operated printers, and ultimately transformed their ideas into physical objects.

This project-based learning approach encouraged active exploration driven by real challenges. Whether analyzing failed prints or adding supports to complex overhangs, students were unknowingly applying interdisciplinary knowledge across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

To ensure a high-quality learning experience, Kexcelled sponsored professional equipment and materials for the school, including:

  • 3D Printers: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon and Bambu Lab A1 Combo (multi-color printing system)

  • Printing Materials: 10 rolls of PLA filament series supporting multi-color printing

Outcomes & Impact: When Students Become “Digital Makers”

At the conclusion of the program, a student survey revealed encouraging results:

  • 100% of students mastered core skills, including understanding 3D printer operating principles, basic model design, slicing processes, and equipment operation.

  • 90% expressed strong interest in continuing to explore 3D printing technology.

  • 80% stated they would recommend Kexcelled products and activities to family and friends.

More importantly, students gained not only technical competence but also a powerful sense of achievement through creation.

They also offered constructive suggestions, such as increasing the number of computers, printers, and materials, and extending program duration to allow for more ambitious projects. These insights will serve as valuable references for optimizing the next phase.
